Auto Sales: Maruti, Tata Motors, Hyundai – Which company is the winner in 2023-24?

New Delhi: In the year 2023-24, Maruti Suzuki India achieved a milestone by selling of 20 lakh units. The automobile major recorded the highest-ever yearly domestic sales of 1,793,644 units and record exports of 2,83,067 units.

The car manufacturing company also reported robust sales in March 2024. It reported a 10 per cent rise in total sales at 1,87,196 units in the last month.

Maruti Suzuki sold 11,829 units of Alto and S-Presso as compared to 11,582 units in March 2023. Shockingly, the sales of Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, WagonR were on the lower side as compared to March 2023.

Utility vehicles comprising Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, S-Cross, XL6 reported a jump in sales of 58,436 units last month as compared to 37,054 units in March 2023.

Tata Motors total domestic sales rise

Tata Motors sales in the domestic and international market for Q4 FY 2023-24 stood at 2,65,090 vehicles, compared to 2,51,822 units during Q4 FY 2022-23. The auto major reported a 2 per cent rise in its total domestic wholesales at 90,822 units in March 2024.

Domestic sales of medium and heavy intermediate commercial vehicles (MH & ICV) (MH&ICV) in March 2024, was 19,976 units vs 22,437 units in March 2023. In Q4 FY24 it was 50,643 units, compared to 54,435 units in Q4 FY23.
Domestic & International sales for MH&ICV in March 2024, was 20,551 units vs 23,074 units in March 2023, while in Q4 FY24 it stood at 52,186 units, vs 56,059 units in Q4 FY23.

“In FY24, the company’s passenger vehicles (including EVs), posted its third consecutive year of highest ever sales with wholesales of 5,73,495 units (up 6 per cent vs FY23) and retail sales growing around 10 per cent vs FY23,” Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Managing Director Shailesh Chandra stated.

Hyundai reports highest-ever sales in FY ’24

Hyundai Motor India’s total sales touched 65,601 units in March 2024, a 7 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales. Domestic dispatch of vehicles to dealers saw an increase of 5 per cent to 53,001 units last month, from 50,600 units in the year-ago period, according to the statement.

In 2023-24 fiscal, Hyundai registered its best-ever sales at 7,77,876 units, over 7,20,565 units in the 2022-23 financial year. In Indian market, the car manufacturing company dispatched 6,14,721 units to its dealers, as against 5,67,546 units in FY 2022-23.

Exports also increased 7 per cent to 1,63,155 units, as compared to 1,53, 019 units in the 2022-23 fiscal.
