New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani has hit back at senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’s statement on the lack of welfare work for women under the BJP government. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Union Minister said that the statement by the Congress leader resulted in the misinterpretation of the role of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

“His misguided endeavours, under the guise of intellectualism, have resulted in an embarrassing misinterpretation of the role and mandate of the Ministry of Women and Child Development,” the Union minister wrote on X.

Smriti Irani further added, “In a blatant and somewhat pitiful attempt to curry favour with the perpetual heir apparent, a certain courtier has unwittingly exposed his glaring incompetence.”

The minister while pointing out the surge in the number of women in workplaces further said, “After enduring significant time correcting the courtier and his master’s erroneous beliefs, it’s time to shatter their misguided notion about women in the labour force. The 2022-23 PLFS Report is not just a number; it’s a testament to the relentless ascent of Indian women, marking a 4.2% surge in the female labour force participation rate to a significant 37% in 2023.”

“Let’s speak plain truths: 69% of MUDRA loan recipients are women, not mere beneficiaries, but architects of their enterprises. The figures are similar for Stand-Up India, where a whopping 84% are women, underscoring their unyielding entrepreneurial spirit,” Irani added.

The national looters, alongside their blind followers, have conveniently discovered a newfound affection for Anganwadi workers, blatantly ignoring the undeniable fact that courtiers’ “concern” is nothing but a sham. Oblivious to or deliberately ignoring reality, they fail to…

What did Jairam Ramesh actually said?

The Union Minister’s response came a day after Jairam Ramesh pointed out that no notable and successful works were done under the Ministry of Women and Child Development in the last ten years. Ramesh described it as a decade of huge failures.

The Congress leader had also said that if the Congress-led government comes to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in June 2024, the era of ’10 years of injustice for women’ will end.
