Death toll in Moscow terrorist attack rises to 134: Nine points about it

New Delhi:The Investigative Committee, in a statement to TASS, has confirmed the identification of 134 victims of the devastating attack on Crocus City Hall. As part of their diligent efforts, investigators are actively gathering information on the circumstances of the crime.

Genetic testing is currently being conducted on the remaining bodies to establish their identities. With a dedicated team of investigators, forensic specialists, and experts, work continues tirelessly both at the crime scene and in the interrogation of apprehended suspects.

Nine points about the attack:

The Moscow Region’s Emergencies Ministry updates the count of injured from the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack to 551, with a total toll of 695 casualties and 144 fatalities, including five children, as of March 30, 2024.
Most of the injured are receiving outpatient care, according to health officials cited by TASS news agency.
The terrorist incident occurred on March 22 at the music venue in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region.
All four attackers have been captured, and five others suspected of aiding them are under investigation.
The Russian Investigative Committee disclosed that the perpetrators had ties to Ukrainian nationalists.
Russia observed nationwide mourning, its first since 2018, with a solemn minute of silence held before a charity concert near the attack site.
The concert stage was adorned with candles shaped like cranes, and attendees held candles during the tribute.
A video projection on the Crocus City Hall facade depicted cranes flying and images of the victims, starting at 19:52 Moscow time, coinciding with the attack’s timing.
Renowned director Valery Gergiyev led a musical ensemble, with survivors sharing their stories during the performance.

The ghastly terrorist attack

On March 22, 2024, a terrorist assault orchestrated by the Islamic State targeted the Crocus City Hall music venue in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. The attack unfolded, just prior to a sold-out performance by the Russian band Picnic. Four assailants initiated a mass shooting and slashing spree against the attendees, concurrently employing incendiary devices to ignite the venue. The Islamic State – Khorasan Province (IS–KP), an affiliate operating in the Afghanistan–Pakistan border region, promptly claimed responsibility for the atrocity through the IS-associated Amaq News Agency.
