New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru have had an underwhelming start to their Indian Premier League 2024 campaign. In the total of three matches, they have slumped to losses twice while emerged victorious only once. Apart from Virat Kohli, specifically, none other batter has been able to fire till now. Leaving aside the team’s batting quality, which hasn’t been so bad, bowling is an area which has put them in splits.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has slammed Faf du Plessis and Co. for an under-par performance in the cash-rich league till now, despite have a good team. The Ex-India player has said that the team needs to work on their strategy and change their approach and mindset if they have the willingness to win in the tournament going forward.

They made mistakes in the team they picked, says Harbhajan

Bowling seems to be an area of concern for the RCB team as they weren’t able to pick quality bowlers, especially a spinner who can win matches for them at crucial stages. While in the batting department, all the oversees batters are on backfoot till now. In an conversation on Star Sports, the veteran Indian spinner said that “They repeatedly make mistakes in the team they pick. They invest heavily in batting and that too foreign. They take mighty overseas batters but bowling has always been their weakness. It’s the case now also and it’s evident as well,” Harbhajan said.

Meanwhile, the ace spinner advised the RCB bowlers to change their mindset and try to pick wickets rather than looking to survive with an economical over. RCB’s approach has not been attacking at all in the league and Harbhajan believes that they need to alter that in order to win games.

“If you bowl enough good balls, you will still be able to get those people out. No matter who is playing, whether it’s (Andre) Russell or anyone else batting against you, a good ball is a good ball. The bowlers will have to change their mindset slightly. Try to pick up wickets instead of trying to survive by bowling a decent over,” Harbhajan stated.
