Forbes World’s Billionaires 2024 list: 2781 billionaires in planet; Bernard Arnault richest, Ambani in top 10

New Delhi: Forbes has released the list of world’s top billionaires in 2023-24. As per Forbes, the number of billionaires have increased significantly as there are now more billionaires than ever 2,781 in all. The United States has the highest number of billionaires (813) in the world, with a combined wealth of $5.7 trillion. China (including Hong Kong) is at the second spot with 473 billionaires worth $1.7 trillion. India is ranked third with 200 billionaires.

From India, Reliance Industries Chairman was placed at 9th position in the Forbes World’s Billionaires 2024 list wit a net worth of $116 billion. RIL’s businesses include, petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecom, retail and financial services.

Bernard Arnault & family

Bernard Arnault & family with a net worth of $233 billion secured the top spot in Forbes World’s Billionaires 2024 list. Arnault oversees the LVMH empire of 75 fashion and cosmetics brands. The world’s leading luxury goods group, recorded revenue of €86.2 billion in 2023, equating to organic growth of 13 per cent with respect to 2022.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla was ranked second by Forbes. His wealth was pegged at $195 billion as per the stock prices and exchange rates from March 8, 2024, Forbes stated.

Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos, the founder of e-commerce giant Amazon in 1994, secured the third spot in Forbes World’s Billionaires 2024 list. Bezos’ net worth was 1 billion short of Musk at $194 billion. Bezos is in news for reportedly buying a third mansion on South Florida’s exclusive Indian Creek island for around $90 million.

Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is now worth an estimated $177 billion and ranked fourth in the Forbes elite list. His rankings improved by 12 places from number 16 last year as per the list. Zuckerberg, who started Facebook in 2004, now owns about 13 per cent of the company’s stock.

Larry Elison

Larry Ellison, chairman, chief technology officer and cofounder of software giant Oracle, was placed at fifth position in the Forbes World’s Billionaires 2024 list. Ellison owns just under 40 per cent of the total stake in Oracle. Ellison was also a board member of Tesla from December 2018 to August 2022.
