Hyderabad: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) condemned an alleged attack on Hindus in Chengicherla village, Pittala Basti, Ghatkesar in the city on Sunday night.

The VHP demanded the state government to ‘take action against perpetrators’ and immediately register criminal cases. Pagudakula Balaswamy, VHP campaigner said that the ‘attack’ was shocking.

Some tension prevailed in the Pittala Basti area on Sunday after clashes broke out between two groups belonging to different religions. The incident occurred during Holi celebrations when Hindus and Muslims entered into an argument during mosque prayers.

As per police, a group of people played songs on loud speakers outside the mosque when Namaz was being offered. The group who were playing music were asked to switch it off which caused an argument. The police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd and no complaints were filed by either parties.

However, on Monday morning, protestors tried to gather outside the spot where the incident took place but the police broke up their attempt.

Balaswamy further said that it is surprising that such attacks were happening in Malkajgiri constituency, which is represented by CM Revanth Reddy.

Telangana goes to Lok Sabha polls on May 13 and there are 17 Lok Sabha seats up for grabs in Telangana. Three of the 17 constituencies – Hyderabad, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad fall in the city limits.
