Investors rejoice! BSE and NSE release list of 25 stocks available for T+0 settlement from March 28 2024

Posted by

New Delhi: The BSE and NSE have shared their list of 25 stocks that will be available for settlement starting from March 28, 2024. The T+0 settlement cycle slashes the time taken for the settlement of stocks and trades to the same day instead of the prevailing T+1 cycle that is currently in use.

What is T+1 settlement?

T+1 settlement takes one additional day to settle the trades carried out by parties in the stock market. So, the shares purchased on Wednesday will be reflected in the investor’s demat account on Thursday.

How T+0 settlement works?

Under T+0 settlement, shares purchased by investors will be visible in their demat account the very same day. Similarly, for shares sold the money will be instantly credited to the investor’s account allowing them more opportunity to utilise their funds. The 25 stocks notified by BSE and NSE will be available for trading only between 9:15 am and 1:30 pm, according to markets regulator SEBI.

T+0 trading eligible shares will have a price band capped at 100 basis points above and below the t+1 cycle, according to the BSE.
The trades will be settled on the same day by 4:30 pm.
The SEBI has proposed that in the second phase, trading will be allowed until 3:30 pm.
T+0 trading will not be carried out on an ex-date or corporate action in security settled under T+1 regime, when the index is rebalanced for T+1 settled security and on the day of a settlement holiday.
There is no restriction on who can carry out T+0 trades.
