IPL 2024: CSK skipper MS Dhoni takes stunning catch to dismiss GT’s Vijay Shankar – WATCH

New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni rolled back the clock to take a stunning catch in their IPL 2024 home match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.

The 42-year keeper, who relinquished the CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad a day before the beginning of the tournament, flew to his right to latch on to an edge by Vijay Shankar off the bowling of Daryl Mitchell.

Shankar was dismissed after a run a ball 12-run knock as he tried a lofted drive in the last ball of the eight over. He got an edge and Dhoni leapt full length to his right and caught the ball.

It reduced Gujarat to 57/3 in their 2017-run target at the MA Chadiambaram Stadium.

Gujarat won the toss and opted to bowl as it allowed the home team CSK to smash their way to 206 for 6.

Opener Rachin Ravindra began with a flourish that was complimented by Shivam Dube gowards the latter stages.

Rachin raced to 46 off 20 balls in Powerplay while Dube whacked 51 in only 23 deliveries, hitting five sixes. In between, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s scored 46 off 36 balls.
