New Delhi: Minutes after Travis Head scored the fastest fifty for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma bettered the mark in their IPL 2024 match on Wednesday.

Head had blasted an 18-ball half century to go past fellow Aussie opener David Warner’s mark of 20 balls against Chennai Super Kings in 2015 as SRH raced to 118/2, the highest score by a team after eight overs in IPL.

Head’s knock allowed SRH to race to 81 runs for the loss of one wicket in the powerplay overs, which was their highest score in the first six overs in the history of the tournament.
