IPL 2024: RCB, KKR keen to keep winning to build momentum early

New Delhi: After victories in their last games, hosts Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders have similar aims of building on their momentum in their clash on Thursday.

RCB beat Punjab Kings by four wickets while KKR edged past Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs.

However, weaknesses were evident in those victories for both teams. They would want to fix those issues, keeping in mind battles ahead.

For RCB, while they would be happy to see their star man Virat Kohli get 77 but would also want skipper Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameroon Green and Rajat Patidar to join in.

Because KKR have a potent bowling unit and not everyday Bengaluru could expect Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror to make a telling impact late in the match.

Their bowling attack needs to be looked at as well as apart from Mohammed Siraj and Yash Dayal, Alzarri Joseph needs to tighten up his act. England left-arm quick Reece Topley could be an option for the West Indian, who has proved expensive in their two matches.

Kolkata also have similar concerns with their top order batters comprising skipper Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Sunil Narine and Nitish Rana all failed in uniosn against Hyderabad at their home of Eden Gardens.

Impact sub Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh and Andre Russell bailed them out in a lower middle order push.

Mitchell Starc also to justify his record price tag after conceding 50 runs against Hyderabad, just as Narine has to get back to his penetrative best.

It is still very erly in the tournament but the two teams would like to have all the players performing from the very beginning.
