IPL 2024: Travis Head hits quickest ever fifty for SRH in tournament

New Delhi: Australia dasher Travis Head scored the fastest half century for Sunrisers Hyderabd in the Indian Premier League’s history in their match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday.

In his first game of the season, the left hander reached his fifty in 18 balls at their home ground of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium after Mumbai won the toss and decided to bowl.

Head broke the mark of another Aussie opener David Warner, who had scored his half century in 20 balls against Chennai Super Kings in 2015.

Warner equalled the mark against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017.

Head reached his fifty with a four through wide mid-off off Gerald Coetzee and was dismissed for 62 off 24 balls.

His innings was studded with nine fours and three sixes in a show of brute force that offered pure entertainment to the sell out home crowd.

His blistering innings ensured that SRH raced to 81 runs for the loss of one wicket in the powerplay overs, which was their highest score in the first six overs in the history of the tournament.
