New Delhi: Defending champions Chennai Super Kings showcased a remarkable performance on Tuesday as they thrashed Gujarat Titans by 63 runs at Chepauk. Put into bat first, CSK rode on Kiwi batter Rachin Ravindra’s swift knock of 46 which set the base for the home side. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored equal runs and ably supported him but both fell short of their respective half-tons.

While CSK lost the opening batters, Gujarat smelled some positivity but it did not last long as Shivam Dube played a lethal half-century to power the Super Kings to a mammoth score of over 200. Daryl Mitchell played an unbeaten knock of 24 runs while Sameer Rizvi too chipped in with quickfire 14. Rashid Khan picked a couple of wickets for Gujarat.

Chasing 207, Gujarat just accumulated 143/8 in stipulated 20 overs as their batters failed to show up in front of a quality bowling and fielding attack displayed by the Chennai players. Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur and Tushar picked two wickets apiece and some remarkable fielding power CSK to a wonderful victory.

IPL 2024 Orange Cap Holder: Most Run Scorer

Run machine Virat Kohli continues to top the list after he was handed the orange cap at the presentation after his 77-run knock against PBKS. He has scored 98 runs in the two games played at a strike rate of 142.02. PBKS’ Sam Curran maintains the second spot with 86 runs at a strike rate of 134.37. CSK’s Shivam Dube has occupied the third spot having 85 runs at an impressive strike rate of 166.66. His teammate Rachin Ravindra climbs to the fourth spot with 83 runs and a strike rate of 237.14.

There’s no change with the top spot as CSK’s Mustafizur Rahman has it occupied with his four-wicket haul (Eco 7.25). MI’s Jasprit Bumrah (2nd) entered the list as he bagged three wickets against GT at an economy of 3.50. PBKS’ bowling duo – Harpreet Brar (3 wickets; 3.85 economy) and Kagiso Rabada (3 wickets; 7.37 economy) are the new entrants being third and fourth respectively. SRH’s T Nataran slips to the fifth spot with three wickets at an economy of 8.
