New Delhi: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty’s recent hospitalisation in Kolkata sparked concern among fans, with reports circulating about chest pain and discomfort. However, his family has now issued a statement clarifying the situation amidst the viral rumours.
Mithun Chakraborty’s family clears the air
Addressing the speculation, Mithun’s son Mimoh and daughter-in-law Madalsa Sharma dismissed reports of chest pain, labelling the hospital visit as a routine check-up. In an interview with Telly Chakkar, Madalsa emphasised, “It was just a routine check-up, who is spreading these rumours.”
Hospital authorities confirmed that Mithun was indeed admitted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata after experiencing uneasiness, citing a cerebral stroke. However, they reassured fans that the actor is in stable condition, conscious, and well-oriented, and receiving necessary medical attention.

Amidst these health concerns, the 73-year-old actor was recently announced as a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award recognising his contributions to the entertainment industry. Expressing gratitude, the actor conveyed his appreciation through social media, acknowledging the support of his fans.

Apart from his illustrious film career, which includes acclaimed performances in movies like Disco Dancer, Agneepath, and Ghar Ek Mandir, Mithun has also ventured into politics. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2021 and briefly served as a member of parliament.
On the professional front, Mithun’s latest project, The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, garnered critical acclaim for its portrayal of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Released in March 2022, the film featured Mithun in a pivotal role alongside Pallavi Joshi and Anupam Kher.
