Bengaluru: A doctor who was supposed to get married soon lost his job in Karnataka as his idea of a pre-wedding photoshoot in an operation theatre in Bharamasagara of Chitradurga district did not go down well with the district administration. After the video went viral, the District Health officer dismissed the doctor from the service.
In the video, Dr Abhishek and his fiance are seen in an operation theatre. Abhishek is seen performing the fake operation and his partner is assisting him at the government hospital.
The video shows several people with a full light set-up in the operation theatre. After some time, the patient who was pretending to be a patient gets up and bursts into laughter. Others in the room including the partner of the doctor were seen laughing at the act.
As the video went viral, the district administration swung into action. After a brief inquiry, the District Health Officer issued a termination notice to Dr Abhishek.
The doctor was recruited on a contract basis just a month ago. He was hired through the National Health Mission.
“The operation theatre where the video was shot is currently not in use. It is undergoing repairs and was shut since September last year,” District Health Officer Renu Prasad said.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said ‘he cannot tolerate such acts.’ He also said that a word of caution has been sent to all the doctors and hospital staff.
