New Delhi: Former India wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel has said that youngster KS Bharat has done brilliantly till now but he has not been able to score runs which he needs to do. Bharat, who has been seven Test matches so far, is yet to score a fifty and there is a strong possibility that Dhruv Jurel might get a chance for his superior batting skills.

The former Indian wicket-keeper, who has played 25 Tests for India, said that there is a bit of instability in the Indian Test set-up as far as wicket-keeping is concerned. In an interaction with ‘JioCinema’, he said that “Bharat has definitely kept brilliantly in this series so far and in the Australia series as well. As far as runs are concerned, yes you want runs from him. There is no doubt over it,’ said the 38-year-old reminding that it is no longer a uni-dimensional assignment. ” “You are expected to score runs and that is something which hasn’t come in big numbers.” Parthiv however asserted that Bharat and Jurel are the best options that they have at the moment”, he said.

Instability at this point of time, says Patel

“It’s very difficult what you’re looking at. You want runs from him without a doubt. It’s up to team management. Yes there is instability at this point of time, you cannot deny that. But you got to take chances with whoever you have.” “I think they are the two best possible wicketkeepers for India to play test at this point of time”, the former wicket-keeper said.

India and England face-off in the third Test match at Rajkot on Thursday. While England won the first match comprehensively in Hyderabad, India bounced back in the second encounter at Vizag. India will have a lot of youngsters in the side for the third match in absence of seniors like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. The hosts would want to maintain their winning momentum while the visiting side would want to avenge the loss.
