Maharashtra: 5 men harass Muslim man, put colours on his face during Holi celebration

Mumbai: At least five unidentified men were booked for allegedly harassing a Muslim youth and forcibly putting colours on his face in a nearby locality of Maharashtra’s Thane on Monday. The victim, identified as Mohammad Kadir, said he had to break his Ramzan fast due to the act.

The shocking incident took place in Thane’s Kalwa area, which is adjacent to Mumbai, when the victim — a rickshaw driver — was on his way to drop the passenger in Kharegaon. According to the victim, four to five men were involved in this unfortunate act.

‘They put colours on my face forcibly’

“I picked up a lady passenger from Kalwa’s Dmart and was on my way to drop her in Kharegaon. When we were passing through the Kharegaon naka area, four to five unidentified men stopped my rickshaw and forcibly put colours on me. Although I pleaded with them not to put colours on me as I have roja, they did not listen to me,” said Kadir, a resident of Kalwa.

‘Lady passenger started crying’

“As soon those men started putting colour on me forcibly, the lady passenger was frightened and started crying. When the men noticed the passenger crying, they fled the spot,” Kadir said, adding that he had lodged a complaint against the men. The Kalwa police initiated a probe into the case and efforts were underway to identify and nab the accused.

Minor beaten for greeting man with ‘Jai Shree Ram’

In Mumbai’s Mira Road, an 11-year-old boy was brutally beaten by at least five men for greeting one of them with the “Jai Shree Ram” slogan. The victim was also forced to raise the “Allah Hu Akbar” slogan. The shocking incident took place on Monday night when the boy had gone to purchase milk from a shop.
