Mumbai: Minor beaten for greeting man with ‘Jai Shree Ram’, forced to chant ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ slogan

Mumbai: Five unidentified youths have been booked for allegedly thrashing an 11-year-old boy for greeting one of them with “Jai Shree Ram” slogan in Mumbai’s Meera Road area. The minor boy was not only beaten but he was also forced to chant “Allah Hu Akbar” slogan.

The shocking incident, which took place on Monday around 9.30 pm, was captured on CCTV of the building where the minor boy lives with his parents. In one of the CCTV videos accessed by, the victim could be seen entering the building while greeting a person with the “Jai Shree Ram” slogan. Meanwhile, 2-3 youths tried to stop the victim but he continued to walk inside his building. In another video, five young men could be seen entering the building.

Minor thrashed for chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ slogan

According to the complaint, Sanjay Singh’s son had gone to purchase milk from a store outside his building around 9.30 pm. While he was returning, he saw the security guard of his building and greeted him with the “Jai Shree Ram” slogan and walked towards his home. However, he later realised that the man he greeted with the “Jai Shree Ram” slogan was someone else. The unknown man tried to stop the minor. Later, five unidentified youths followed him inside the building and thrashed him. The minor was also forced to chant the “Allah Hu Akbar” slogan.

FIR filed against the unidentified youth

As soon as one of the residents saw the minor being thrashed, he tried to stop the attackers but they ran from the spot. The man immediately informed the minor’s father and they later took him to the Meera Road police station. A case was filed against the unidentified youths under Sections 448, 295A, 153A, 37, 1C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The probe was underway and the youth were yet to be arrested.
