New Delhi: Ghulam Haider, husband of Pakistani national Seema Haider who illegally entered India in May last year to marry Sachin Meena, an Indian she met online, has lodged a complaint in a Noida court this week, alleging “cheating” against Seema and Sachin.

Represented by his Indian lawyer, Momin Malik, Ghulam Haider has initiated legal proceedings against the couple under Section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Momin said that Seema had not completed her divorce proceedings with Ghulam Haider, thus rendering her marriage to Sachin void, according to a report from The Times of India.

During the court session on Thursday, Momin argued that Seema had identified Ghulam Haider as her husband in her bail application subsequent to her arrest for illegally entering India, despite publicly claiming to be married to Sachin.

He further stated that the court has issued a notice to the Noida police, directing them to submit a report by April 18. Seema and Sachin were detained by Noida police in Ballabhgarh, Haryana, on July 3 last year under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and IPC Section 120B (criminal conspiracy). They were later released on bail on July 7. Sachin’s father was also arrested but granted bail subsequently.

Background of Seema Haider

In July 2023, Seema Haider was found residing with Sachin Meena in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. She revealed that her feelings for him had blossomed during their interactions in the mobile game PUBG, prompting her decision to relocate to India from Saudi Arabia, where she had been living with her former husband.

Speaking to BBC, Haider revealed her conversion to Hinduism and her reluctance to return to her home country. She also mentioned that her children from her previous marriage had embraced Hinduism alongside her. Seeking Indian citizenship, Seema Haider wrote to President Droupadi Murmu amidst debates over whether she should be deported.
