Washington: In a chilling case, Adam Montgomery, a 34-year-old man from New Hampshire, has been sentenced to over 30 years in prison for killing his 5-year-old daughter named Harmony Montgomery. According to prosecutors, Montgomery brutally punched his daughter after she had two bathroom accidents while the family was living in their car. The family had been living in the car since they were evicted from their house.
What prosecutors said
The abuse led to Harmony’s death, but Montgomery’s actions didn’t stop there. Instead of seeking help or showing any remorse, he callously disposed of her body in horrific ways.
“Adam Montgomery stuffed her decomposing body into a tote bag that he carried to his workplace and other places before dumping it like ‘yesterday’s trash,’” prosecutors said, as reported by the New York Post. Shockingly, Montgomery even brought the bag containing Harmony’s remains to the restaurant where he worked as a cook and dishwasher, storing it in a freezer alongside food items.
The prosecutors narrated how the accused attempted to cover up his heinous crime. He moved Harmony’s body multiple times, hiding it in various locations including a friend’s car trunk, a cooler in his mother-in-law’s house, a freezer and even in a ceiling vent in a homeless shelter.
How man disposed of his daughter’s body
In a desperate attempt to avoid detection, Montgomery purchased a saw and blades and rented a moving truck to dispose of his daughter’s body. However, his efforts to evade justice failed and he was arrested and charged with killing his daughter, abuse of a dead body, assault, and witness tampering.
Throughout the trial, Montgomery maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to the charges and accusing his estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, of lying to protect herself. Kayla, in turn, was sentenced to serve an 18-month jail term for lying under oath.
