‘SRK ki 10 saal films nahi chali…’: Kangana Ranaut justifies her array of flop films

New Delhi: Indian actress Kangana Ranaut has failed to give a single hit in the past four years. Despite starring in ambitious projects like Thalaivii and Tejas, the 37-year-old actress couldn’t bring the expected footfall in cinema halls. Her last hit was the 2019 film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. However, in her opinion, it doesn’t matter because, before Pathaan, even Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan delivered several flops for ten years.

Additionally, she even touted herself and Shah Rukh as the ‘last generation of stars’ while speaking at Times Now Summit 2024. The Queen actress said, “OTT doesn’t make stars. We are known faces. By the grace of God, we are very much in demand.”

Reacting to the failure of her films at the box office, Kangana said, “No actor in the world only has hits to their credit. Shah Rukh Khan’s films didn’t work for ten years and then Pathaan became a hit. My films didn’t work for seven to eight years, but then Queen worked. Then, some more hits came, then after 3–4 years, Manikarnika worked. Now, Emergency is coming. Maybe it will become a hit.”

The actress is also anticipating the release of her film, Emergency, which will hit the theatres on June 14, 2024. Kangana will play the role of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
