Taiwan earthquake: Advisory for Indian nationals in view of massive quake- Check emergency helpline number

After the ‘strongest earthquake’ of 7.7 magnitude hit Taiwan, an advisory has been issued to Indian nationals in the island nation. The massive quake hit the island nation early on Wednesday killing at least seven people.

The advisory has been issued by India Taipei Association (ITA) in view of the earthquake striking off the coast of eastern Taiwan on 03 April morning.

The India Taipei Association has also issued the emergency helpline for assistance, guidance, or clarification to all Indian nationals living in Taiwan. The mobile number and email-id are as follows.

The association has also requested all Indian nationals to follow advisories issued by the local authorities. In a statement, the ITA also requested Indian nationals in Taiwan to share this advisory through their local networks for wider circulation.

Reuters reports that the strong Taiwan earthquake has also injured over 700 people in the island nation. This is said to be the massive earthquake in Taiwan in the last 25 years. Hundred of building have been damaged in the quake in different parts of the country.

Following the quake, a 5-storey building in Hualien County, near the offshore epicentre, was left leaning at a 45-degree angle, while its first floor collapsed.

According to Taiwan’s national fire agency, seven people are reported dead in the quake which hit just before 8 am local time. According to a local news website, three hikers were killed died in rockslides in Taroko National Park and a van driver was killed in the same area after boulders hit the vehicle.
