New Delhi: India’s veteran pacer Umesh Yadav reacted on Instagram by sharing a cryptic post as he was once again snubbed from team India’s Test squad for the remaining three matches against England. His latest Instagram story was written in Hindi, “Kitaabon par dhool jamne se, kahaaniyan khatm nahi hoti,”, which means “Just because books are covered with dust, the stories don’t end.” This shows that he was disappointed after not getting selected despite performing decently in the last few months.
Umesh Yadav showed his bowling prowess as he took 18 wickets after playing in three matches for Vidharbha and he also became one of the best pacers of the tournament. The BCCI announced the squad on Saturday and didn’t include him for the remainder of the series. At the same time, Akash Deep received the maiden Test call-up whereas Jasprit Bumrah, Mukesh Kumar, and Mohammed Siraj have retained their spots.
Yadav last played a Test match for India in the WTC final against Australia last year, where he couldn’t perform well with the ball. After that, he hasn’t played a single Test match for India and his recent Instagram story shows his desire to still play for the country and that his career is not over despite the slump in form.
Umesh Yadav has taken 18 wickets in three Ranji Trophy matches
After taking 101 wickets while playing in 32 home Tests, which also includes two fifers, Umesh has played a huge role in team India’s success in the longest format at home. He has played 57 Test matches in all and has taken 170 wickets at an average of 30. He possesses the ability to produce pace on spin-friendly pitches.
Since he is performing consistently in domestic cricket, his fans and former cricketers are easily waiting for his comeback to the national side. His cryptic Instagram story shows that his career is far from over.
