UP policeman deployed with 112 harasses nurse, assault her in Sambhal

Sambhal: An Uttar Pradesh policeman has been accused of harassing a nurse and indulging in assault in Sambhal district. The policeman identified as Tanvir Ahmad has now been arrested by police and sent to jail.

The accused policeman, who was deployed with 112 PCR, has also been suspended by Superintendent of Police. The matter came to light after a complaint was filed with the police against the cop.

It is also alleged that the policeman used to pose as a Hindu using ‘Baliyan’ as surname. The incident took place in Baniya Thar area.

In a complaint to police, the woman’s father stated that his daughter, who works as a nurse in a private hospital, was returning home when the policeman tried to talk to her and allegedly forced her to sit on his bike. “But when my daughter protested, he allegedly assaulted her and fled form the spot,” said girl’s father in the complaint.

When the nurse reached home, she informed parents about the incident who then approached police. Based on the complaint, police filed a case against the policeman under various sections of IPCs including harassement and assault. The cop also allegedly threatened to kill the nurse.

After the case was filed, police sent the accused cop to jail. The accused policeman is a native of Muzaffarnagar. SP Kuldeep Singh has suspended the cop and ordered a departmental inquiry against him.
