Uttarakhand LS polls: Congress denounce PM Modi’s allegations about playing divisive politics

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Congress has termed the allegations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Congress and Rahul Gandhi as a pack of lies. Congress’s statement came after PM Modi’s public rally at Rudrapur which comes under the ambit of Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar parliamentary constituency in Uttarakhand.

PM Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress in his rally

In this rally, PM Modi launched a blistering attack on Congress and Rahul Gandhi addressing a huge crowd gathered to listen to him in Kumaon’s terai region on Tuesday. Referring to a recent statement of Rahul Gandhi that if BJP gets elected for the third term, the whole country will go to flames, PM Modi said that Congress had been out of power for 10 years after ruling the country for 10 years and now using undemocratic language to set the country on fire. Notably, this statement of Rahul Gandhi came on Sunday during the rally of opposition in Delhi protesting against the arrest of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. In this rally, Rahul said, “PM Modi had sent two chief ministers to jail before the election. If the BJP wins these fixed elections and changes the constitution, the country will be on fire.”

Congress slammed PM over baseless allegations

Reacting to his remarks, state Congress vice-president Suryakant Dhasmana said, “Instead of talking about the pressing issues of the state, PM Modi levelled baseless allegations against the India bloc, especially Congress, to divert the attention of people to mislead them.” Congress has asked six questions from BJP before the rally of the Prime Minister. Dhasmana reiterated those questions which are majorly related to the state of law & order and unemployment in Uttarakhand. In these questions, Congress asked who is the VIP leader whose name is connected to Ankita Murder case, who is responsible for the 230 kg of gold missing from Kedarnath, who is responsible for paper leak and recruitment scam in Uttarakhand, who is guilty of playing with future of youth in armed-personnel dominated area by introducing ‘Agniveer’ scheme, who is responsible for heinous crimes against women in the state and who is responsible for increasing unemployment and corruption in Uttarakhand.

BJP needs divisive politics not Congress

Answering the PM’s remark about giving ticket to Karnataka Congress leaders DK Suresh, whose comment about separating south part of India from north part stirred a row, Dhasmana said, “It is BJP led by PM Modi who has been dividing the people and not Rahul Gandhi who has walked thousands mile travelling to every nook and corner of country to unite the people.” As PM Modi emphasized on development work done in the state, Dhasmana answered, “The progress of Uttarakhand is evident in the plight of government schools, hospitals and migration by hill farmers due to several issues like shortage of water and human-wildlife conflicts.”

Unprecedented migration in the state lacking development

Addressing a press conference in Dehradun, Uttarakhand Congress chief spokesperson Garima Dasauni said, “PM spoke about development of infrastructure as a major achievement of his government, but it was revealed in a survey conducted in 2021 that five lakh people have moved out of the state in the last 10 years. People have left villages due to lack of employment and Uttarakhand has continuously been suffering from large-scale hill migration. The state is plagued by massive unemployment, crumbling infrastructure, and deteriorating law and order situation.”

BJP hits back saying Congress is misleading the people

Hitting back at Congress’s criticism, BJP’s state media in-charge Manvir Singh Chauhan said, “PM Modi has special attachment with Uttarakhand and he has a special vision for the development of this state. Congress can’t digest it and is trying to mislead people.” Chauhan hailed the Pushkar Singh Dhami led government and said, “Our government has taken historic decisions and passed strict laws to curb the corruption and improve the law and order situation in the state.”
