Watch: Robbers strike at Ranchi jewellery shop in broad daylight, flee with gold worth Rs 3 to 5 lakh

New Delhi: A brazen robbery unfolded at Gold Plaza, a jewellery shop located near Deepa Toli Reliance Fresh on Argora Road in Jharkhand’s Ranchi. Three thieves, disguised with flower bouquets in hand, stormed into the shop. Under the guise of purchasing Valentine’s Day gifts, one of the thieves engaged the shopkeeper while the others swiftly brandished pistols, forcing the terrified bystanders into submission.

Within moments, the thieves made off with approximately half a dozen gold chains valued between Rs 3 to 5 lakh. As the robbers fled, they abandoned their loaded weapons and a distinctive blue TVS Apache motorcycle at the scene, leaving behind a trail of panic and fear.

Police swiftly responded to the distress call, with Ranchi City SP Rajkumar Mehta and Hatia DSP Pramod Mishra leading the investigation. CCTV footage captured the entire ordeal, aiding authorities in identifying the suspects. The seized motorcycle and discarded weapons provided crucial evidence for further inquiry. Ranchi district administration has assured to bring the perpetrators to justice soon.

Interstate gang arrested for robbing jewellery shop

In another incident, five members of an inter-state gang were apprehended by police six days after they robbed a jewellery shop on Gill road. The recovered items included 2.1 kg of silver, two illegal pistols, five bullets, a Hyundai Aura car, and a bike. Two of the arrested individuals from New Delhi had planned the robbery, while their three Ludhiana accomplices conducted reconnaissance beforehand. Identified as Aniket, Rahul Kumar, Navdeep Dubey alias Golu, Ankit Kumar, and Karan, the accused are already involved in various criminal cases and formed a gang while in jail.

Exploiting the shop’s secluded location, they executed the robbery at gunpoint on January 14. Police had filed an FIR against unidentified culprits earlier. The arrests were made by multiple police teams, with further interrogation expected to yield crucial information. Ankit faces trial in four cases, including attempted murder and drug-related offenses, while Karan has two cases of attempted murder and theft against him. Aniket is implicated in a snatching case.
