The collision caused chaos as the vehicles were propelled into the crowded fairground, trapping unsuspecting attendees underneath.

Shocking CCTV footage captured the moment of impact, showing the cars being thrust into the midst of the fair by the out-of-control tanker. Witnesses who escaped harm immediately sprang into action, attempting to rescue those pinned beneath the wreckage.

Driver was not intoxicated
Preliminary investigations suggest that a brake failure on the milk tanker triggered the calamity. The injured victims were swiftly transported to the Central Referral Hospital, with fears that the death toll may rise. The young driver, unharmed but detained by authorities, was reportedly not intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The bustling fairground, hosting a ‘tombola’ game, became a scene of tragedy as the Sikkim Milk Union-labeled tanker ploughed through the area. Coming from Gangtok, the tanker struck three stationary taxis before hurtling towards the unsuspecting crowd.
One woman two men lost lives in crash
The devastating accident claimed the lives of a young woman and two men, including an off-duty police officer, with two victims yet to be identified. The community reels from the loss and injuries inflicted by this unforeseen catastrophe.
