West Bengal horror: Man beheads wife, roams around with severed head in East Midnapore

New Delhi: In a spine-chilling incident in West Bengal, a 40-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after he beheaded his wife and roamed around with the severed head in his neighbourhood in the East Midnapore district.

The shocking incident came to light when some locals spotted a man near the Chistipur bust stop with clothes soaked in blood and carrying severed head of a woman. Horrified at the sight, the people alerted the police.

Upon arriving at the scene, cops arrested the man identified as 40-year-old Goutam Guchait. He was taken into custody and interrogation revealed the head was of his wife whom he killed. The accused was also found to be mentally unstable, India Today reported.

Police said the accused attacked his wife with a sharp-edged weapon following a dispute between the couple at their residence. The house was searched and the wife’s beheaded body was recovered. The man is currently under arrest and investigation in the case is underway.

BJP attacks Mamata Banerjee over violence against women

Amid a raging row over claims of rape by several women in the Sandeshkhali area at the hands of abscinding TMC leader Sheikh Shajahan, the BJP hit out at the Mamata Banerjee government, calling it a “mute spectator” to violence against women and that “jungle raj” is prevailing in West Bengal.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia claimed there is “complete anarchy and lawlessness” in West Bengal under the TMC rule with Banerjee allegedly providing protection to her party goons who allegedly raped and exploited tribal women in Sandeshkhali.
