New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) took a jibe at the Opposition bloc’s ‘infighting’ over a common face for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP posted a political ad parodying INDIA bloc’s leaders in a tweet titled “Dekhiye INDI Alliance me fight, Mai hi dulha hoon right.”

The video shows a fictitious situation where leaders of INDIA bloc have gathered to arrange a marriage. A woman dressed as a bride is seated in front of a person playing Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s role. He leads the conversation as he introduces his “business partners” from across the country.

The leaders in the room include Sonia Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Uddhav Thackeray and Lalu Prasad Yadav, among others.

The leaders end up fighting over who will become the groom.

The video concludes with the message, “Aapko lagta hai ye apne beech dulha chun sakte hain? To pradhan mantri kaise chunenge?…Abki baar 400 paar.

Congress reacts

Supriya Shrinate slams BJP’s dulha ad | Image: X

Reacting to the ad, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, “Marriage is a sacred institution. This is a relationship based on mutual trust and love, which despite not being of blood, is stronger than that and is the foundation of all other relationships in life. Today, an obscene advertisement of BJP has once again made it clear that in their conservative eyes, the existence of a woman is to wear a lehenga, become a bride and impress a groom.”

“But there is a difference between finding a groom and choosing your representative in a democracy. Well, anyone can become the groom – it is important to follow the marital dharma,” Shrinate added.

Netizens react

The political ad received mixed reactions from netizens. One user said, “Gazab ka vigyapan hai.” Another wrote, “Dulha Sarkar.” Yet another added, “Very bad advertisement. PM post compared to a groom.”
