Coimbatore: The district collector has advised the public not to come out between 12 noon to 3 pm as heat waves may hit some places in Coimbatore in the coming days, according to the prediction by the Indian Metrological Department (IMD).
People advised to stay indoors
The Collectors of Coimbatore, Karur, and Salem have advised the public to drink enough water, avoid going outside unless necessary, especially between 12 noon to 3 pm, and consult a doctor immediately in case of health deterioration due to exposure to the sun.
The heat has been gradually increasing since the beginning of April in Tamil Nadu, and various districts including Salem, and Erode have been scorching at 108 degrees Celsius in the past few days.
15 places in Tamil Nadu recorded above 100 degrees Celsius
Erode district of Tamil Nadu has been ranked 3rd among the districts which recorded the highest temperature in India yesterday. Similarly, 15 places in Tamil Nadu recorded above 100 degrees Celsius. The public has been warned not to come out from 12 noon to 3 pm.
As the heat has been increasing in various districts in Tamil Nadu for the past few days, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a notification on April 23, stating that a heat wave may hit one or two places in the northern interior district of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore district in the coming days.
The weather agency also forecasted that heatwave likely to hit interior districts of North Tamil Nadu for next 2 days.
