Honour killing: Girl, her uncle stabbed to death over suspected illicit relation in Delhi

New Delhi: In an honour killing reported from northeast Delhi, the brother and father of a girl allegedly murdered her and her uncle suspecting them of illicit relationship. The incident was reported from Bhajanpura police station area in North Ghonda. The uncle and her niece were stabbed to death. After the murder, the brother of the girl confessed to the police about killing both. The police has arrested the duo.

Dr Joy Tirkey, DCP of Northeast Delhi, said that around 4.40 pm on Tuesday, he got a call. The caller said, “I have murdered my sister and uncle, and I want to surrender myself to the police.”

The police swung into action and rushed to the house situated in Gali No. 5 of North Ghonda. On the second floor of the house, a young man and woman were lying in a pool of blood. After close inspection, it was found that both were dead. The brother and his father, who were at the crime site, were taken into custody for iterrogation. The brother revealed during interrogation that the dead man was his father’s cousin brother and hailed from Bulandshahr, and the murdered girl was his own sister.

Dr Joy Tirkey said, “The accused brother has confessed to killing his sister and uncle during interrogation because he suspected that his sister had an illicit relationship with his father’s cousin brother. He stabbed them with a knife and then called the police to turn himself in.”
