In a recent podcast with Deepak Pareek, titled The Chill Hour, Johny’s daughter Jamie Lever opened up about the origin story of their last name. “Because he worked at Hindustan Lever. He used to entertain everyone with mimicry and poke fun at others during their annual event. People loved watching him. He was just a regular labourer at the company,” she said.
Jamie added, “People used to tell him to go and perform. One day, he did a mimicry of the company’s heads and managers that left them extremely impressed. After that, his senior came on stage and honoured him with the last name ‘Lever’.” Johny decided to keep the name as he found it pretty catchy.
