Morbi bridge collapse
On October 30, 2022, a pedestrian suspension bridge which was built in the 19th century over the Machchhu River in Gujarat’s Morbi collapsed. It led to the deaths of at least 135 people and more than 180 people were injured. The bridge was reopened just a few days before the accident after repair.
Lixinsha Bridge collapse
A barge collided with the Lixinsha Bridge in China’s Guangzhou on February 22, 2024, leading to the collapse of the bridge. The incident led to the death of five people and three people were injured.
Mexico City Metro overpass collapse
On May 3, 2021, a girder overpass in the borough of Tlahuac carrying Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro collapsed. The accident killed 26 people and injured 98 others. It was the deadliest accident in the Metro in the last 50 years.
Ponte Morandi collapse
On August 14, 2018, a 690-foot section of the Ponte Morandi bridge in Italy collapsed during a rainstorm. The accident killed 43 people and led to a year-long state of emergency in the Liguria region.
Chirajara bridge collapse
It took place on January 15, 2018, when the partially constructed Chirajara bridge in Colombia collapsed. The accident killed at least 10 workers and injured several more.
Mumbai bridge collapse
On March 14, 2018, a Concrete Foot Overbridge in Mumbai collapsed due to faulty construction. The accident led to the death of six people while 30 others were injured.
Kolkata flyover collapse
On March 31, 2016, the under-construction Vivekananda Road flyover in Kolkata collapsed. The accident killed 27 people and 80 people were injured.
