Odisha man killed by brother-in-law; case registered

Sundergarh: In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly killed by his brother-in -law in Sundergarh district of Odisha. Sharing details on Friday, the police said that the victim had reportedly assaulted his wife, who was the sister of the accused. While the deceased was identified as Jayram Satnami, the accused has been identified as Markosh Toppo.

Satnani visited his wife at his brother-in -law’s place

According to the police, Satnani had visited his wife at his brother-in -law’s place on Thursday. However, his angry wife asked him not to meet her again. The victim met the accused when he was returning home.

Soon after, both Satnami and Toppo had an heated argument, after which the latter allegedly hit the former with a knife. The victim was soon taken to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

While the accused has been taken into custody, the police have also seized the knife that was used in the crime. Notably, Satnami had married Latika nearly four years ago. Since then the couple was living together at his residence in Lakhipara village. Satnami allegedly used to beat his wife on numerous occasions. On numerous occasions, Toppo had reportedly advised Satnami to avoid such behaviour, the police added further.

Latika’s mother and brother took her back to their home

As per the police, upset with the regular beating of Latika at the hands of her husband, Toppo and his mother took her and her child to their home.

Recently, the police arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife and their two-year-old daughter. The accused had allegedly used a venomous king cobra for the crime. While the incident was earlier filed as an unnatural death, the incident took an ugly turn after the wife’s father filed a case against his son-in-law.
