‘PM Modi will be buried 400-feet below’: JMM leader’s remarks spark political slugfest

Ranchi: A Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader has sparked a massive controversy by making controversial statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public rally. In a purported video, JMM central committee member Nazrul Islam was heard saying that Prime Minister Modi “would be buried 400-feet below” in the Lok Sabha election, instead of winning 400 seats, the target set by the BJP. The clip, which has gone viral on social media, sparked a political slugfest between the ruling JMM and BJP in the state.

Sharing the video of the JMM leader’s speech, the Jharkhand BJP on Tuesday demanded a high-level probe and his arrest for allegedly making derogatory remarks against PM Modi. Islam made the remarks against the Prime Minister at a public meeting in Sahebganj on Sunday. TV9 could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

An opposition leader is openly threatening the assassination of the PM of the country, the same PM whom any Tom-Dhruv-Harry declares dictator…

BJP demands JMM leader’s arrest

State BJP president Babulal Marandi said that the mental balance of JMM has deteriorated, seeing the popularity of Prime Minister Modi.

Meanwhile, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that the JM leader made the remarks on Sunday but still no police action has been taken against him. He also said that opposition INDIA bloc has accepted its defeat in the Lok Sabha polls and that is why they are making such statements in frustration. The BJP leader said that the party will also approach the Election Commission in this matter.

“We demand Chief Minister Champai Soren set up a high-level committee to probe into the episode and ensure immediate arrest of Islam,” Shahdeo said.

JMM distances itself from party leader’s remarks

The ruling JMM said a show-cause notice would be sent to Islam if he really made such a statement. The party also distanced itself from Islam’s statement, saying it does not support such remarks by any leader.

“If he (Islam) has really made such a statement, he will be show-caused by the party. We do not encourage undignified remarks like BJP,” JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey said. He said that the context of his statement also needed to be verified.
