Toll taxes to increase on expressways/highways leading to Delhi from April 1 | Check revised rates here

New Delhi: Commuters taking the key expressways leading to Delhi will now have to pay higher toll charges as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is going to hike the toll tax from next month. The agency, under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), has announced the revised toll fee rates for these expressways which will be implemented from April 1.

Commuters using the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and the Sohna elevated road will also pay higher toll tax from April 1, as the NHAI has revised the rates for all vehicle categories. The other expressways where toll fees will be hiked are Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. There is an increase of around four per cent on toll fees on the mentioned expressways.

The Kherki Daula toll plaza will charge Rs 85 against all light vehicles, which is Rs 5 more than the current rate. Commuters who opt for a monthly pass for using this route will have to shell out Rs 10 more than the current rate of Rs 920. The revision in toll tax is an annual exercise.

To note, the NHAI has not revised toll tax for light vehicles plying on Sohna elevated road. The toll tax for private cars plying on this highway is Rs 125. However, the toll fees has been hiked for those opting for a monthly pass. The new rate will be Rs 340 from April 1, Rs 10 more than what was charged earlier.

At present, the toll tax cars plying on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is Rs 165 for a one-way journey and Rs 245 for two-way journey on the same day. Meanwhile, the toll tax for using the Eastern Peripheral Expressway is Rs 110 for cars for a one-way journey and Rs 165 for a two-way journey. Monthly pass on the expressway costs Rs 3,670 for passenger cars.

Revised toll rates for highways/expressways connecting Delhi

Tax at Kherki Daula toll plaza has been increased to Rs 85 per trip, a surge of Rs 5
Light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and mini-buses will have to pay Rs 120 per trip
Buses, trucks, and multiple axle vehicles will have to pay Rs 250 per trip, a surge of Rs 5
Monthly passes for personal cars will cost Rs 930, which was earlier Rs 920
Monthly passes for commercial cars and jeeps will now cost Rs 1,225, which was earlier Rs 1,215

As per an HT report, commuters using the Sohna elevated road will pay the same toll tax at the Sohna toll plaza which is Rs 125 per trip at the Ghamroj toll plaza. However, light commercial vehicles will have to pay Rs 205 instead of Rs 200 earlier. Meanwhile, buses and two-axle trucks will have to shell Rs 430 per trip, which was earlier Rs 420. In addition to this, trucks with three axles will have to pay Rs 465 per trip, a surge of Rs 10.
