Posted by New Delhi: Rajasthan BJP chief CP Joshi is contesting from Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency from Rajasthan. He is up against Congress candidate Udai Lal Anjana. Joshi is facing a tough contest from, which he won the last two times, with both the Rajput community and opium farmers angry with the party. TV9 Network caught up with the Congress leader during the campaign trail and posed at him pointed questions regarding the election in his constituency.
Q. You come from an ordinary family but today you’re the state BJP President. How did you reach this position? Who is CP Joshi?
CP Joshi is an ordinary worker who hails from a farmer background. From Yuva Morcha to state president, this is possible only in the Bharatiya Janata Party. I believe that whether I have fought a small election or big one, I have always remained among the party workers. Whatever responsibility, I have delivered my best.
Q. It is being said by analysts and there are political discussions that the the election in Chittorgarh would be tense. Would the fight be tense one-sided?
It is one-sided. Listen to my recording again on June 4. The BJP is going to win with a huge margin. The people here know that who rejected Ram Mandir invitation, who called Akbar as great and who misguided the youth and farmers. What has the Opposition done? Forget the last years, can they tell what they have done from 2004 to 2014?
Q. There are 25 seats in Rajasthan. 2 EVMs will have to be setup in every booth. Will there a different equation in winning or losing?
The people here are smart. Every voters knows that. Their minds only have ‘kamal’.
Q. PM Modi recently made remarks about ‘infiltrators which was covered by the Indian and foreign media alike. Is this the BJP’s tease that is being seen?
What’s wrong with what he said? The first claim on the country’s resources would be on the poor, Dalits, tribals, farmers. Should infiltrators get that right?
