Posted by Coimbatore: In response to a social media post that shows Tamil Nadu BJP state president K Annamalai was seen offering money to a voter during his poll campaign in Coimbatore, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati said he has taken cognizance of the video and the inquiry into the matter is on.
“We have taken cognisance of the video shared. This is forwarded to the police team for verification. The inquiry is in progress, the Collector responded to the video post on X formerly Twitter on Friday.

Annamalai caught in a row
A social media user named Harish shared the video in which a women voter welcomed Annamalai with traditional ‘aarti’. Then the BJP leader was seen handing over money ‘secretly’ to her under the aarti plate. The user accused Annamalai of offering money to influence voters and he did not adhere to the model code of conduct. The video has now gone viral on social media.
Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Wednesday filed his nomination from the Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat. He takes on DMK’s Ganapathy Rajkumar and AIADMK’s Singai Ramachandran in the Lok Sabha constituency.
It may be recalled that members of DMK, AIADMK, and other parties raised objections alleging ‘missing facts’ in BJP leader Annamalai’s nomination papers in front of the Coimbatore District Collector during the scrutiny process.
BJP caders claim it was an old video
Meanwhile, the BJP supporters claimed that the video was an older one and it was taken during Annamalai’s En Mann En Makkal yatra in the state. Annamalai embarked on a state-wide just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections for about four months.
