‘I am seriously confused’: Shreyas Iyer’s team-sheet goof-up leaves netizens in splits

Posted by

New Delhi: Shreyas Iyer faced an embarrassing moment ahead of Match 10 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. KKR skipper Iyer won the toss and elected to field first in his team’s first away match of IPL 2024. He had no hesitation in sending RCB to bat in front of their home crowd.

While he was clear on what to choose after winning the toss, Iyer suffered a brain fade moment when Ravi Shastri, the toss presenter, asked him for the team changes.

When asked about the bowling composition of his team, Iyer was unable to figure out his bowling XI even after looking at the team sheet. He chuckled: “The bowling – Anukul comes in. I am seriously confused. There are two teams given to me.”.

Netizens were left in splits after his comments went viral on social media.

Unchanged RCB eye second straight win

While KKR made one change to their playing XI, RCB remained unchanged for the blockbuster clash. Both teams registered victories in their previous fixtures and will look to maintain the winning momentum.

While RCB eked out a 4-wicket win over Punjab Kings, KKR overcame a stern challenge posed by Sunrisers Hyderabad to win the match by four runs in a nail-biter. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli, the talisman of Bengaluru. The star batter was named Player of the Match against Punjab Kings for his match-winning fifty.

Meanwhile, KKR would hope Andre Russell, delivers the goods against the Challengers.

KKR: Philip Salt(w), Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer(c), Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Mitchell Starc, Anukul Roy, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy

RCB: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis(c), Cameron Green, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Anuj Rawat(w), Dinesh Karthik, Alzarri Joseph, Mayank Dagar, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal
