Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s BJP unit has received about 70,000 suggestions from the voters, and they would be included in the party’s “Sankalp Patra”. Out of the 70,000 suggestions the party got from the voters of the state’s different parts, 40 percent suggestions relate to the central government and the rest 60 percent suggestions are associated with the state government.

BJP sent a box to collect voters’ suggestions to each assembly seat

BJP’s committee, which is meant for making “Sankalp Patra”, had sought suggestions from the voters of every assembly constituency. The committee, which former chief minister and BJP’s nominee for Haridwar seat Trivendra Singh Rawat heads, sent a box to collect voters’ suggestions to every assembly constituency on February 15. Uttarakhand has 70 assembly seats and thus, the party has got at least 1000 suggestions from each assembly constituency within a short span of one month.

The committee sends Suggestions relating the centre to the party’s central leadership

The committee discussed the suggestions and got them segregated into two parts- suggestions relating to the centre and suggestions meant for the state government. The suggestions, which were relating to the centre, will be sent to the party’s central leadership in New Delhi. The suggestions have been made by every category of voters, including youths and women.

Suggestions are of different kinds

Sources said some suggestions made by the voters are of political importance for the BJP. “A section of voters wants the BJP to include one population law in its manifesto,” a source in the BJP said. Other suggestions include changes in the standard of GST in view of the state’s geographical circumstances. Voters have also suggested the committee to increase the amount of five lakhs in Ayshman Yojana as a limit for the free treatment of the people. Some voters have underlined the need for the reconstruction of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples on the pattern of Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines.

Party to include most of the suggestions in its manifesto

The party is set to include most of the suggestions in its “Sankalp Patra” for the 2024 LS polls. The committee has already requested the central leadership to consider the suggestions made by the Uttarakhand voters and include them in the “Sankalp Patra” at the national level. BJP leaders felt that the suggestions may help the party prepare a road map for the development.
