New Delhi: In a shocking incident near Maholi village, located in Mathura, a group of 6-7 people attacked a man and his father, resulting in the son’s death. The victim, 25-year-old Vijay, was riding a bike with his father Pappu towards Thana Highway when they were intercepted by members of Vijay’s in-law’s family. The assailants viciously assaulted Vijay before dousing him with a flammable substance and setting him ablaze. Despite Pappu managing to escape, Vijay succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

News of the heinous crime spread quickly, prompting villagers and associates of Pappu to gather at the police station, expressing outrage over the incident and questioning the authorities’ handling of the situation. They alleged that despite previous altercations with Vijay’s in-laws, the police had failed to take action and instead attempted to broker a compromise, ultimately leading to Vijay’s demise.

Upon receiving word of the incident, City SP Arvind Kumar arrived at the police station to oversee the investigation. He confirmed the details of the attack and assured that a thorough investigation was underway. Locals are shocked over the police’s decision to pursue a compromise rather than taking decisive action in response to previous conflicts. Concerns have been raised about potential external pressures or influences impacting the functioning of the Mathura police, casting doubt on their ability to uphold justice effectively.

27-year-old burnt alive

A 27-year-old man, Veeresh Kumar, died after allegedly being set on fire by relatives of his girlfriend, Ankita, in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district. Ankita’s family opposed their relationship despite their same caste. Veeresh was lured to Ankita’s house in Togarsi under false pretenses, then abducted, restrained, and burnt alive in his car. Police have filed a case against eight people, including Ankita’s brother Praveen, under various sections of the IPC. The accused are currently on the run.
